You're going to get sick of my wedding planning LOL! Sorry! I have a centerpiece question?

As some of you know, my wedding plans have changed %26amp; it will now be in a backyard.

Since it%26#039;s in a backyard with NO cover at all %26amp; the ceremony will begin at 3pm in the dead heat of Summer, I was thinking of having umbrellas for each table rather than having my guests sweating. But, what happens to the centerpieces when you do that? I had planned on flower arrangements that were going to be pretty tall and full using orchids, bells of Ireland, other greenery, orange dahlias, ginger, gladiolus, oriental lilies.

If there%26#039;s a pole in the center of the table, how do you work with that? I think it will look weird %26amp; off center. Wouldn%26#039;t the umbrellas sort of take away from the height of the centerpieces %26amp; make things feel too tight? Any ideas? I can change them, I guess.

Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersSimply incorporate the umbrellas into the arrangements. I%26#039;ve even seen bowls that you could put a lower arrangement in that are in 2 pieces, specifically to fit around the umbrella pole on a table. I would not do the taller arrangements with umbrellas, simply because they%26#039;ll be up at the top of the umbrella spines, and that won%26#039;t work. But you can have a lower arrangement with many of those same flowers that will work great.

The other thing you could do is rent a tent. Then you don%26#039;t have to worry about umbrella poles, etc. It might be less expensive that way. That way you could have your taller centerpieces. Taller centerpieces really only work in a tall room--otherwise they look kind of silly.

Good luck, and don%26#039;t worry about asking too many questions! That%26#039;s what we%26#039;re here for!
Reply:How about using wreaths around the umbrella pole (I am not discribing it well) Have the umbrella go through the center of the wreath this way you can still use the flowers and the centerpeice wont be off center.
Reply:You should definately look into a tent just for shade purposes. You don%26#039;t have to get a huge one that EVERYTHING would go under, but if you are having a caterer, it would be best to have the food, bar, and tables where people can eat in the shade. Also, possibly the dance floor in there? b/c you don%26#039;t want anyone getting heat stroke. (don%26#039;t know exactly where you are in Cali, or how hot it is going to be at 3pm there, but I know here in July it is hot as you know what, and old people are pretty sensitive to the heat. Also try to rent industrial size fans to put in the tent, or at least around your party to blow some cool air around.
Reply:they sell those candle things that go around the pole.. you could intertwine the flowers around that
Reply:my thought on this is to take the green stuff you stick flowers in put that around the umbrella base and fill it full of flowers. I saw something similar last summer and it was very cool. you could do them in 2 half circles so they are easy for set up and tear down. when you put them on the table intertwine the flowers in order to have them seem as one piece. Make sense?
Reply:Have the flowers in tall vases circle the base of the pole all the way around, I think it would look pretty.
Reply:You need a tent. Just having umbrellas is not going to protect from the majority of the sun and will be completely useless if it starts to rain.
Reply:There%26#039;s so many ways you could incoporate the umbrella poles into the centerpieces! You could have ivy winding up the pole.

There is also the idea of having a tent. A VERY good idea if the weather is unpredictable as it is where I%26#039;m from!
Reply:Instead of doing Umbrellas to give some shade - is it possible for you to hire a Marque so that way everyone is covered and you could keep the centre pieces you wantgenealogy mormon
