Christmas night out.....its REALLY long sorry !?

FROM: Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director.

TO: All Employees DATE: 4th November RE: Christmas Party.

I%26#039;m happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take

place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks!

We%26#039;ll have a small band playing traditional carols...please feel free

to sing along. And don%26#039;t be surprised if the MD shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00p.m.. Exchange of

gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift

should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone%26#039;s pockets. This gathering is only for employees! The MD will make a special announcement at the Party. Merry Christmas to you and your Family. Pauline.

FROM: Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 5th November

RE: Holiday Party.

In no way was yesterday%26#039;s memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees.

We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However,

from now on we%26#039;re calling it our %26#039; Holiday Party%26#039;.. The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians. There will be

no Christmas tree or Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.

Happy now?

Happy Holidays to you and your family, Pauline.

FROM; Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 6th November RE: Holiday Party.

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table...you didn%26#039;t sign your name. I%26#039;m happy

to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, %26quot;AA Only%26quot;, you wouldn%26#039;t be anonymous anymore!!!! How am I

supposed to handle this? Somebody? Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange allowed now since the Union Officials feel that £10.00

is too much money and Management believe $10.00 is a little cheap. NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. Pauline.

FROM: Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 7th November RE: Holiday Party.

What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees%26#039; beliefs, perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party - or else package everything up for you to take home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work? Meanwhile, I%26#039;ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the toilets, Gays are allowed to sit with each other, Lesbians do not have to sit with gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangements for the gay men%26#039;s table too. To the person asking permission to cross dress - no cross dressing allowed. We will have booster seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used inthe food.

we suggest those people with high blood pressure taste the food first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply %26quot;No Sugar%26quot; desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!?!?!?! Pauline.

FROM: Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All F****** Employees DATE: 8 November RE: The *******Holiday Party.

Vegetarian pricks I%26#039;ve had it with you people !!! We%26#039;re going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the %26quot;grill of death%26quot;, as you so quaintly put it, you%26#039;ll get your f****** salad bar, including organic

tomatoes, But you know tomatoes have feeling too, They scream when you slice them. I%26#039;ve heard them scream. I%26#039;m hearing the scream right NOW!! Hope you all have a rotten holiday, drink drive and die.

The ***** from HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FROM: John Bishop - Acting Human Resources Director DATE: 9th November RE: Pauline Lewis and Holiday Party.

I%26#039;m sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy recovery, and I%26#039;ll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, the Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and instead, give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd December off with full pay.

How do i clean?

i have silk flower arrangements hanging on walls, they are very dusty, is there a way to wash them without ruining them??
How do i clean?

place them in the dryer bag in all and dry!

but honestly the rice girl pinned it!
Reply:Brown paper bag with a bit of salt and shake it around . Should come off.
Reply:Use a hair dryer on them to blow the dust away.
Reply:Yes, indeed. You can vacuum them carefully, or shake them well in a bag; and then lightly rinse them in some mild dishwashing liquid and cool water. Hang them upside down to dry.

Try rice. Take a paper bag and place a cup or two of white rice (uncooked of course). Place the plant inside and shake. Give it a few good shakes and the rice will dust the plant off. This works great with wreaths and dried flower arrangements too.

You can also blow them with your hair blowdryer outside. Make sure you use the cool option.
Reply:There is a silk flower cleaner spray available at most craft stores that does a decent job as long as the dust hasn%26#039;t built up too heavy. Shake them out first and then spray.

About gender equality again...?

hi guys!! thanks for all your answers to my question yesterday. I really appreciate it. Now I know some people do have the same outlook as I have. I guess it doesn%26#039;t matter if we are male or female. We just have to do what we do best. There are women mechanics, CEOs, and soldiers. There are also men who are great at beauty parlors and flower arrangements. There should also be movements for men - they are deprived of showing their emotions and are labelled as weak if they do. Or better yet, no feminist or male movements at all! .

Is the ottoman taking the place of the original coffee table?

I%26#039;m in the process of puchasing a new living room suit, I like the sectionals, but every display I see, has a ottoman instead of a coffe table. I like it, but what kind of items do I put on there(books, ash trays, flower arrangements etc.), because what do a person do with their coffe cups, cocktail or drinking glasses?
Is the ottoman taking the place of the original coffee table?
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersI work in a Contemporary Interior Design store and no they%26#039;re not replacing them. They are optional. They do make ottomans that have reversible hard surfaces. The top is cushion for a foot rest and when you flip it over it has a tray (with for sides). Some of these ottomans are chests as well, so they are really a good buy, with three purposes. Most people purchase sectionals with ottomans %26amp; end tables. You can get the sectional and skip the ottomans and get a coffee table instead or yes, if the ottoman is big enough get trays.
Reply:I%26#039;m not a fan of ottomans for anything except putting up your feet.

An upholstered or leather surface used otherwise is bound to get stained; it%26#039;s just not the most stable place to put drinks and such.

Plus--when you substitute an ottoman for a cocktail/coffee table, you lose the great texture and interest that wood accent furniture gives to contrast with the upholstered sectional.

If you don%26#039;t don%26#039;t replace your furniture very often, then it%26#039;s better to stay away from a trend that will leave your room looking dated in a couple of years. I%26#039;d go with wood or even wrought iron/glass...something classic and durable.
Reply:The displays show an ottoman to keep it simple and uncluttered, because they have to fit all parts of the sectional into one picture. Some people do use an ottoman with a large tray on top, but for most people it really isn%26#039;t practical. I hate being at someone%26#039;s house an not having a surface to put my glass or coffee cup on, and I don%26#039;t want to be worrying about spilling.

An ottoman is still good for putting your feet up!
Reply:Don%26#039;t drink in the living room.
Reply:I must have misunderstood. In my time, an ottoman was a foot rest. How can a foot rest take the place of a coffee table? They are two entirely different pieces, with very different uses.
Reply:A lot of them open up...but that is so tacky...stay with a coffee table....really....unless yo uare planning to add shag carpet too.

Cheers in your decorating!!!!!!!
Reply:you can use the ottoman as an extra seat, if you need a place for a Glass, a mug or anything you can always buy an extra coffee-table or end-tables, also a lot of sectionals have the optional fold down backrest with built in cup-holders. Check it out at a furniture store.
Reply:What do you want you or your guests to place there? Are you serving something? Ottoman with a serving tray.....fits right in with your question. What is the focus of the room you are furnishing and who will you invite into this room? Think about why any building is built. Purpose/Function...then fit it into your budget.make up

Easy Craft to Make and Sell?

Can anyone think of craft ideas that are easy, nice, and decently quick to make that I could sell? I am very big into making craft items. I will be having a rummage sale this year but would like to have a craft table as well. I already thought of and will be making small crocheted afghans, flower arrangements, and ornaments that are painted on. I also cross stitch but that takes too long. Any other suggestions? I think it would be fun to try new projects! Thanks much.

Good websites for contemporary DIY apartment decor and crafts?

Hey all... I just moved into an apartment with way more wall and floor space than I%26#039;m used to. I want to make some inexpensive decor to give the place some character (along with scouring the local thrift stores). Somewhat kitschy yet contemporary/urban is good, but I want stuff to look fairly nice too - I%26#039;m nearing 30 and posters tacked to the wall just don%26#039;t do it anymore.

Screen printed canvasses, interesting homemade lampshades, dried flower arrangements, etc, are the kind of things I%26#039;m looking for. Stuff that requires a little work and an eye for design but doesn%26#039;t necessarily need massive artistic inspiration. Can anyone recommend good websites with how-tos on DIY apartment decor projects like these?

Is it bad for me to have this mind-set about the wedding?

When my fiancee and i went to consulted with our wedding planner, and just in general to check up and decide on things, is it ok if was just as %26quot;into%26quot; it as he was? It%26#039;s hard to explain, but the lady was showing us about 5000 samples of napkins of the same color, like it was the same beige over and over again, but it had different names, butterscotch, milk-something or whatnot. I know guys typically don%26#039;t know the difference and prefer to leave the details to the bride-to-be, but what if the bride-to-be is acting sort of like the guy? When the lady showed us those samples and asked me which one I liked, I laughed and said they look the same, and she stared at me like I was insane. In general all the details, flower arrangements and what not, wow I mean, I don%26#039;t know what to do? Any suggestions, comments? Is this relaxed manner of mine a bad thing?

*And I%26#039;m also a girly girl, so it%26#039;s not like I%26#039;m a tomboy, or %26quot;one-of-the-guys
Is it bad for me to have this mind-set about the wedding?
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersHaha, no. She is the one who is totally nuts!

I have the same attitude towards my wedding. I don%26#039;t have a wedding planner, I have a mother and a future mother in law who are showing me all kinds of things and I say, %26quot;Oh wow, well what do you think is best?%26quot; or %26quot;I pick this one%26quot; and my mother says, %26quot;you know this one would be best let%26#039;s go with this other one here.%26quot; And since it%26#039;s all the same to me, %26quot;Okay, whatever you think is best.%26quot;

Do the same thing with the wedding planner and try to keep a straight face. Clearly this woman is a little nuts and takes weddings very seriously. Let her.

Is your attitude towards the wedding a bad one? No, certainly not! You probably have your priorities straight. Not only are butterscotch, milk-something or other the same colour or so closely related that no one would know the difference, but they are just napkins! The important thing to remember on your wedding day is your relationship. You won%26#039;t be stressing over the little things and you%26#039;re not getting married because of some fantasy to be a princess.
Reply:honestly this is not an uncommon feeling! i know that i hated every second of planning my wedding except the dress that was fun.. everything else really wasnt my cup of tea.. im not girly but I dont think thats the reason... a wedding a lot of work and i dont know about you but life it already hard enough picking between every shade of pink possibly imaginable is not my idea of fun... my suggestion would be keeping it simple... here is a great web site with everything you could possibly need to make your wedding easy...

http://www.weddinghelpers.cceasy.com

also for changing your name this is a must have... you would be crazy not to get this

http://www.thenamechangekit.com

hope this helps! Congrats and good luck!
Reply:Maybe you are just not a detail person. Maybe you just want to go get married, and have fun at the reception. If you dont care about the colors, decorations, etc. maybe you should let your mom and future mother-in-law do most of the planning. I am sure they would love to do it, that way you can sit back and relax a little more. You should make the major decisions like color scheme, and what food you want. Let them deal with the little details like, satin, or mate napkins, decorations, center pieces, where to put flowers etc.

You may even find that you and your fiance dont fight as much if someone else is doing most of the work for you.

Good Luck.
Reply:No, you just aren%26#039;t sweating over the small stuff, which is fine.
Reply:You%26#039;re fine.

i don%26#039;t see why people insist on making suck a massive production out of weddings. (i%26#039;ve heard of weddings between normal working class people that get into the tens of thousands of dolars).

i for one salute you for not being one of the maniacs that has to have everything just so, and gets all screachy and anoying. would that there be more like you. :)
Reply:My mind boggles that anyone needs a wedding planner.

I%26#039;ve only done it once (I%26#039;m still on my first wife) but it seemed kind of easy.

Here%26#039;s what we did.

1) We checked out a couple of venues. We found a nice place.

2) We called a caterer the venue owner recommended. 3) Picked a couple of CDs we liked

4) got some disposable cameras

5) Got a cake made. Assembled a funky cake stand for fun

6) Brought suits for best man %26amp; me. Wifey got a dress.

8) Called a guy to officiate

7) sent invites.

8) Got married.

Total cost $4k and about 4-5 days effort. Everyone figured we%26#039;d spent $40k.

No in-laws, parents or anyone else had a say.
Reply:You are refreshing. 5000 (an exaggeration but I understand) napkins all in beige would put a cow to sleep in 5 seconds. My wedding was tiny but I walked into a store, saw a choice of about 5 items, said %26quot;that%26#039;s cute%26quot; grabbed one, and that was it. I did that for every choice I had to make, and you know what? Everyone had a nice time, and I am still married 14 years later!
Reply:I was SUPER laid back planning my wedding. You want to get stuff done, but don%26#039;t stress about it. Everything turned out ok for me. My wedding was awesome. Let your planner know to come to you with a variety of options. Why look at the same napkin all day? If she shows you a few different styles for center pieces, you can let her know what you like from each, and figure out which one is best. She should learn to know your style. My wedding planner was amazing, knew what I liked, and didn%26#039;t bother me with stupid things, but kept me informed on important things. Good Luck, and don%26#039;t stress. You don%26#039;t want to break out!
Reply:just pick one makes no difference
Reply:I don%26#039;t think you have a bad attitude. You aren%26#039;t worried so much about the details of the wedding as the strength of the marriage. I started out with plans for yellow and blue to be the primary colors in my wedding. I found a pink dress that looks so great on my Maid of Honor that we had to work pink in, too. Pink has actually become the main color. My mom has started adding some off-white and brown. It looks fabulous to me. The main thing I want to do is marry the man I love. Whether napkins are cream, or chamagne, or whatever really doesn%26#039;t matter. Try to keep a straight face and let the planner do her job. You might also let her know that you trust her judgement on some things like napkins.
Reply:To me it seems like your pretty much easy going not into all that expensive stuff or fancy which is probably pricey too in other words your simple and thats cool Im the same way ! As for flowers I like white roses and baby breath thats so pretty I also think white orchids are nice
Reply:No you are absolutely normal! I%26#039;m exactly like that when choosing paint or wallpaper too... 2000 shades of off white and I can%26#039;t tell the difference enough to matter!

When it comes to music I%26#039;m useless too... I absolutely thrilled my sister-in-law by letting her choose the wedding music for us because I had no idea at all besides %26#039;here comes the bride%26#039;..

Have a great stress-free wedding by concentrating on what really matters to you and leave the picky details to the experts. Give them a budget and just tell them to do their best.. you will be their dream customer :)

Congrats on your engagement.. hope you can keep up the relaxed manner and enjoy your wedding as much as your guests will :)White Teeth

i live in a 3 bedroom trailer with a husband and 3 kids and i%26#039;m working on making myself a hobby area for when the kids are napping or i%26#039;m (on rare occasion) alone. i do flower arrangements and knit, sometimes i%26#039;d like to have a nice solid surface (other than the kitchen table) to use for these hobbies. with very little room i%26#039;m trying to get ideas to make myself my hobby %26quot;room.%26quot; so if you can post good ideas and pictures to get me going, that would be great. thanks

Take a look at the walls in your home, and see which wall would be a good area.

Then either buy or build a bookcase the size to fit your needs, so you can store your things when not in use.

On one of the shelves of the bookcase, build a table that has a move-able leg, you know the kind with hinges, so you can put the table up to work on, and then lower out of the way when not in use.
Reply:No pictures handy but I can tell you that I have pegboards and I really do use them. I also have stacking bins with fabric sorted by color, and transparent bins for the notions. I have thread racks up on the wall too.
Reply:You might want to check out some of the photos and suggestions for work rooms and %26quot;storage%26quot; of craft supplies on these 2 pages of my site:

(go down to the category called %26quot;Work Tables and Work Rooms%26quot;)

(some of the crafters on those pages are polymer clayers, but much of the same info could generalize to other crafts as well)

You might want to use some %26quot;lap trays%26quot; sometimes too (bought or made).

Here is some info I gave for some else on a similar question:

First read the following books :

Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space: Sewing-Room Makeovers for Any Space and Any Budget

by Lois L. Hallock

Dream Sewing Spaces: Design and Organization for Spaces Large and Small

by Lynette Ranney Black, Lynette Ranney Black, Pati Palmer (Editor) - a good book

Organizing Your Craft Space

by Vanessa-Ann, Jo Packham, Sara Toliver

Where Women Create: Inspiring Work Spaces of Extraordinary Women by Jo Packham, Brad Mee

There available at any library or bookstore

Those books will give ideas and a tell you what you will need to get started on doing this

Now figure out how big a desk you will need and write down the dimensions and do you want drawers for it? How many many?

then go from there. plan where you want threads to go and storage spaces to put your projects, tools, and other things

draw this on a piece of paper. then check and see if will go with the flow of work so you can work easily and effectually

This is all explain in the above books.

is this desk being built by someone { your husband?) or is this desk pre-built if the later; have him help you design and built it .If the former than be sure to get the dimensions of the deck to plan in your plans

for some good desk and sewing cabinet plans go to www.U-build.com and check e-bay for Plan and what you can bid on. or ideas

That all the help I can give you for now

Hope this helps
Reply:Well my hobby room is huge and I live alone so I can%26#039;t really relate. But i have seen people with room issues use a closet to put a table and a chair in, with storage shelves and drawers. This way you can close off the area when you%26#039;re not using it.
Reply:tough stuff, maybe u can make a flower romm, or create ur own garden???? idk, buti dont have any pics sorry
Reply:Sorry, but I seem to be missing something here. What you do with your room depends entirely on what hobbies you have. I use a corner of my basement for my seed starting (gardening). Several large, clear tubs in the attic for my organized by colour family wool stash (knitting), and 2 large bookshelves and a computer in my office (recipe development), a custom set of shelves for pans etc (cooking) and my kitchen table for everything! I also invested in a solid coffee table that both holds books underneath for when I%26#039;m reading cookbooks and allows me to clamp on a wool winder and/or swift. These all allow me to be with my family.

My neighbour, on the other hand, who%26#039;s a serious tole painter (did I even spell that right?). She lives alone and has half her basement set up with benches, peg board and shelves with small clear plastic containers. She also has a small set of ceiling mounted cribs for her wood. She bought a couple of cheap flourescent light fixtures and fitted them with full spectrum bulbs.

One important thing for hobbies like sewing and anything that requires power tools is the place your outlets so that you a) won%26#039;t blow a circuit or b) have enough of them close to where you use your drill press, router, sewing machine, glue gun or whatever... Air flow is also important if you work with stinky stuff like paint or glue. Or dusty stuff like sawdust. Light is also very important. Is it over your workplace or does it cast shadows? Do you need full spectrum light to see exactly what your colours are, or not? think about your family. Will they resent you being closeted away from everything, or is that going to be your haven? Do you need to make the environment safe so little ones and animals can%26#039;t hurt themselves or get their mitts on toxic stuff (or power tools)? Also think about your body comfort. If you%26#039;re working at a bench top, have you got a decent stool that supports your back. If you%26#039;re standing, a small ledge or stool to put one foot on can really help your back. Speaking of your back, you may also want cushioned rubber matting or similar (As a former chef, I can tell you without hesitiation that hard floors can play havoc with your back and/or knees). Gosh, there are so many things to consider - I feel I%26#039;ve barely scratched the surface. Good luck! Alexaffiliate reviews

Does wedding budgeting make anyone else want to pull their hair out?

I am not getting married until June 2008, and I am already ready to pull my hair out from all the stress!! I am having a family friend make the cake, invitations, and flower arrangements...and Im getting married at my grandmothers house, so no venue charge or need for a limo. But I still cannot seem to get my budget under $20,000...this is insane. My fiance has already vetoed eloping or destination wedding.

How did you, or are you, dealing with the stress of the dreaded wedding budget!?

I am having the same deal.... ours is $20,000 and we keep cutting stuff out and down but it%26#039;s not putting a dent into it. I still owe the cater like $10,000 and our wedding is Nov 3....

It%26#039;s soo hard and we are cutting back on everything to pay for this.... Depending on where you live and if you have to use a cater it%26#039;s really hard!!! I am ready to elope too :)

I am hoping to get some federal taxes back to pay the cater but I feel like I am always robbing peter to pay paul!!!
Reply:My last wedding was $200 and we had the best time! It%26#039;s not worth $20,000. I would be asking myself huge questions about that sum of money. Chances are you won%26#039;t be married in 10 years! You could take that money and do something nice, like a down payment on a house! You%26#039;re not the first to stress over the money. That%26#039;s why so many do elope.
Reply:yea bc u want so much but u cant get it all but 20000 is pretty good budget
Reply:Okay, I think you can find cheaper:

Rings...does he want just a plain band? Go to Kohl%26#039;s or a chain store like Belden/Kay. My fiance%26#039;s band was going to be $300 at the store where we got my rings, he got it for $40 at Kay Jeweler%26#039;s at the mall. His brother did the same thing, and 3 years later, still has the same ring.

Ceremony....$1000?!?! Maybe this is normal in your area, but for me (Just north of Boston, MA) my wedding in a huge cathedral-like church is only $285 for EVERYTHING...priest, facility, planner (which they mandate). Can you find another place?

Wedding dress...Do you really need to spend that much? Look at other places, usually dress shops carry the same styles. My future in-laws friend paid over $1,500 for a dress that a cousin bought for $500 with alterations!

Other stuff~Can you get a crafty friend to do the decorations for you? Or do them yourself. It would be much cheaper to buy the supplies at a craft store (or even a dollar store...don%26#039;t knock it!) and do them up yourself. And, it can still look classy and nice if you do it right.

Wow, I%26#039;m surprised. I%26#039;m having a large church/reception wedding for 200-250 people for about $25,000 and I thought that was ridiculous!
Reply:No, it%26#039;s all in what you think is important. Your rings cost too much, so is your photographer and videographer. Too much to pay for a gown, and if you guys are tight on money, skip the darned honeymoon! No need for you to complain, thought you were %26quot;scrimping%26quot; or something....
Reply:My wife and I got married in Las Vegas. Visit the different wedding chapels. They have packages priced from $45.00 up to $20,000 depending on how extravagant you want to be. You can also do it anytime, for example, you could get married at midnight.

I realize that your fiancee vetoed eloping or a destination wedding but let him know that you are having trouble getting the budget below $20,000 and that it is stressing you out.

I think the total cost of our wedding was about $100.00 and we had a great time in Las Vegas with no stress involved.

You might want to arrive at a compromise with your fiancee. Suggest going to get married in Las Vegas just to make the union legal so that you can do things like get on one spouse%26#039;s health plan, etc. Then the two of you, together, can plan a renewal of your vows where you can invite people, rent limos, and host a reception. This will give you guys time to shop around for the best deals and save some money to build up a bigger budget.
Reply:planning a wedding CAN be stressful. I myself am planning a wedding at this time and let me tell you, I%26#039;ve literally screamed into a pillow because of how stressed out I get. No matter what, it%26#039;s going to be stressful but you can control your emotions. Just go to this page:

http://www.blissweddings.com/wedding_pla...

It will let you download a free mini-planner. It%26#039;s great, it gives you just about any info you need for your wedding. Check it out.

Other ways you can keep your budget low is by making the invitations yourself, Go to Michaels or a craft store and they%26#039;ll have kits for invitation. You can get a set of 50 invitations, 50 envelopes, 50 respond cards and 50 respond envelopes for like $30. I have my family helping me out with keepsakes and the cake and decorations and stuff like. Trust me, all this really helps, so far my fiance and I are looking to spend between $3k and $5k. Good luck!
Reply:Well, I have been fortunate enough to only be spending $5500 on ours. I agree that weddings can and will last a lifetime if you nurture them :) I%26#039;ve been with my husband for nearly 10 years, it hasn%26#039;t been easy, but we are more in love than ever before.

Anyways, back to your question...I%26#039;m not sure what you are spending $20,000 on since you already have some big things covered for free or cheaper rates. HOWEVER....I will tell you that craigslist, ebay and freecycle have saved me A LOT!!!!

Hope this helps, congrats and good luck on throwing the wedding of your dreams at a fraction of the cost ;)
Reply:Well what exactly are you doing that%26#039;s costing so much money! $20,000? You have no cake to buy, no invitations, no flowers and no venue rental and no limo. Exactly WHAT is your problem? I%26#039;m having all those things and my wedding budget is $6000 and I%26#039;m not having any issues and my wedding is only 6 months away. How many people have you invited? How much is the food? Seriously, I can%26#039;t see why you have so many expenses...you need to re-budget.
Reply:This is why back in the day, the bride%26#039;s parents were supposed to plan and pay for the wedding. They have more experience budgeting and planning things of this nature. Since your fiance is so keen on dumping so much responsibility on you (saying absolutely NOT for elope or destination wedding) can you imagine how much work he will feel entitled to dump on you after you%26#039;re married? Think about it.
Reply:I just have to say %26quot; Take a deep breath%26quot;, planning your wedding can be well, STRESSFUL at time, just know when to walk away and take a deep breath
Reply:Aww, honey, take a deep breath and relax. Since you%26#039;ve already mentioned eloping %26amp; dest. wedding, obviously the #1 most important thing to you is to have a husband by the end of that day, and rest assured that will happen! That%26#039;s a great start, now it%26#039;s a matter of prioritizing the rest of it.

First, take a good look at your guestlist. Are you inviting everyone you%26#039;ve ever met, or only the people that really matter to you? www.theknot.com has a great budget calculator. Start by putting in the 20,000 and the amount of guests and it will set appox. how much each facet of your wedding should cost. Then fill in zeros for all the items you won%26#039;t be paying for and it will redistribute the money to the remaining items. Then it%26#039;s a matter of deciding what is most important to you.

Are you a foodie... Is it a gourmet menu or nothing as far as you%26#039;re concerned? Or do you not care if they%26#039;re eating hot dogs as long as you%26#039;re wearing the latest to die for couture dress? Maybe entertainment is number one on your list, after all it is a celebration, you want everyone to remember what a good time they had for a long time to come. Make a list by order of importance for what you have to pay for, ex:

1. rings

2. food

3. entertainment

4. dress

5. decor

6. stationery

7. photographer

Once you know what is and isn%26#039;t important to you (and your fiance), you can, using the above example, take a little money out of you photography budget, maybe hire a student from a local art school, to go towards the diamond bands you%26#039;ve been dreaming of.

Keep shopping around for the best prices, you%26#039;ll get it together eventually. Knowing what you%26#039;re willing to skimp on will help. Just try to stick to that 20k budget, as wonderful of a day as it might be, the perfect wedding is no reason to start a marriage in debt. And don%26#039;t listen to the nay-sayers saying you%26#039;re spending too much... you can%26#039;t put a price on your dreams.
Reply:I had a gorgeous wedding, and it did not cost me more than $8,000 and that%26#039;s being generous. I wish I could help you and trust me you would have your same exact wedding with less than half that budget. Dont blow so much money on your wedding. You cant buy memories, but the headaches will always be there when money is involved.
Reply:You can%26#039;t get your wedding budget under $20K?!?!!! You%26#039;re kidding. My wife and I did the whole nine -- limo, church, reception hall (catered), cake, DJ who had multimedia capability to play videos and put up pictures, invitations, bridal gown, tuxedos, flowers, photographer, etc. -- all for under $13K. Either somebody is overcharging you major bigtime for something or your tastes are way too expensive. Here%26#039;s a general idea of what we paid:

LIMOUSINE: $450.00 for three hours

DJ: $800.00 for the night

INVITATIONS: $300.00

FLOWERS: $750.00

BRIDAL GOWN: $600.00 at a bridal gown warehouse

TUXEDOS: $650.00 total for everyone

PHOTOGRAPHER: $2,000.00

CHURCH: $250.00

RECEPTION HALL: $35 per person; which included the wedding cake, the meal, linens, wait staff, and a bartender for 5 hours.

Makes me wonder how your wedding could be so pricey...
Reply:I think no matter how much your budget is, the planning is always going to be stressful. Our budget is $5,000 and we are paying for it, no help. I%26#039;ve had an issue with the flowers being too pricey and It%26#039;s driving me crazy, I keep mentioning eloping to my fiancee but he keeps changing the subject....
Reply:Wow...I envy the fact that everyone here is able to keep their wedding cheap...unfortunately for those of us who live in southern california, it%26#039;s way more expensive than that....try 50,000.....(this is an average number) and I have been cutting corners wherever possible and that budget keeps on rising. Am I stressed..yes. Good Luck!
Reply:The first thing to consider is what is REALLY most important to you for your day. Make a list and prioritize. Then pick one item at a time to research and get your bridal party to help you.

We chose to go easy on the reception location because it was much more important that our friends and family be there.

Then we decided we did not have to have a big dinner - we had the reception at 7pm and had hor%26#039;deurves and cocktails this also allowed for a longer open bar.

I was very lucky to find a photographer for $600, he took almost 1000 pics, I had him from getting ready to the near end of the ceremony. He was awesome, for a guy who worked by himself he caught moments that we were not even aware of (i.e. my sister-in-law %26amp; best friend %26amp; there hubbys crying while we danced our first dance). We got a proof of every pic and all the negatives. This allowed us to make enlargements at our discretion and in our timeframe.

A friend volunteered to do the music in the church.

We had the rehearsal dinner at our home, a friend stayed there to prepare everything while we were rehearsing.

It is nice your friend is willing to help with so much, who else might be willing to contribute?
Reply:Budget I think is the biggest stress. We are having everything done professionally and are managing to keep it under $7K. You just need to do your homework. The more you understand the cost of things and can compromise (i.e. stay away from expensive food dishes and exotic flowers) the better off you%26#039;ll be. I wanted Cymbidium orchids and filet mignon...to cut costs and make it affordable I am going with Green Hydrangeas and Prime Rib. difference in price on those two things alone-$12K, there is half your budget given back.
Reply:Of course budgeting makes me pull my hair out!

So far we%26#039;ve kept everything under 5k, I think.

I do stress...we have less than 6 weeks to go, but I try not to let too much get to me. It%26#039;s pointless to freak out over it. This is your wedding. Just remember that. Don%26#039;t let other people, like angry future father in laws, try to take over.
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry but I do not understand how you have all that cut out and can%26#039;t keep it under 20,000. I am getting married in June.
