I have an 11 month old kitten who loves to sit and eat the Gypsophila in my flower arrangements. I try to discourage this kind of behaviour but is this poisonous to her?
Gypsophila is also known as Gypsy Grass or Baby%26#039;s Breath

Reply:yes it is poisonous to animals and people
for humans:
Dermatitis: The juice, sap, or thorns of these plants may cause a skin rash or irritation. Wash the affected area of skin with soap and water as soon as possible after contact. The rashes may be very serious and painful. Call the Poison Control Center or your doctor if symptoms appear following contact with the plants. http://www.plantsciences.ucdavis.edu/ce/...
basically if its poisonous to a human then its most likely posionus to animals (pets)

Reply:Yes, Gypsophila is poisonous to cats. Here%26#039;s your solution to this problem: Buy a product called %26quot;Bitter Apple%26quot;. It may be at Petco, or Petsmart, but if not, your vet should probably have it, or can order it for you. Spray it on the flowers, and the next time your kitty tries the flower, they won%26#039;t like it, and will stop eating it. Don%26#039;t worry, there is nothing bad in this product, it just has a very bad taste that cats and dogs will dislike very much. Be sure to spray at least twice a day, as it will wear off. Your kitty might decide to try it again, and will discover the same %26quot;yummy%26quot; flavor again, which you don%26#039;t want to happen.
Reply:Yes, it is poisonous to cats. It irritates the mouth and tongue because of tiny crystals of calcium oxalate. Read the websites below for more information.
If possible, you might want to encourage her to chew on oat grass, wheat grass, spearmint, catnip, or parsley. She might like to munch on those better.
Best of luck!
Reply:this plant sounds suspicious keep your kitten away or you might find new gutters on your house and a £3000 bill
Reply:Hi, I think it is, also the middle of lillies (where the pollen is) this is very poisonous to cat%26#039;s. Cat%26#039;s have some funny habits but it is better to stop her now than having her seriously ill through eating flowers.
Reply:All parts of the plant have a certain level of toxicity towards your cat. It may only cause her to get an upset tummy and/or diarrhea, but you should give your vet a call and see how harmful this particular flower is to your cat.
Reply:According to the web, gypsophila, baby grass and baby%26#039;s breath are all poisonous to your pets, especially cats. It doesn%26#039;t say how bad but only that you should keep cats away from it.genealogy mormon
